Often found in conjunction with the proper names or qualities of God among all peoples professing Islam. For example: Abd Alla - "God's servant", Abd-el-Qadir - "slave of Almighty (God)", Abd-ul-Latif - "slave of Merciful", Abd-ur-Rahman - "slave of Merciful" etc. An epithet of Prophet Muhammad.
