Bali (or Mahabali) in Hinduism was a benevolent Asura King, and the grandson of Prahlada. During the reign of Bali everywhere was peace and prosperity. Bali took control not only the entire earth, but the heavenly planets too. Everybody was happy in the kingdom. People did not even lock their doors, as there were no thieves in that kingdom. Celestial maidens asked Vishnu to return heavenly planetse to the them. Vishnu tricked the demon and returned the world to the gods and gave Bali underworld.
