Japanese name (天照) means - "deity who illuminates the heavens".

Amaterasu the sun goddess, major deity of the all-Japanese Shinto religion pantheon, the ancestress of the Japanese imperial family. Honored as the she-inventor of the technology of rice cultivation, production of silk and weaving looms.
