Hecuba in Homer's "Iliad" - Trojan woman, the wife of Priam and mother of most of his children; Hector, Paris, Cassandra, Polyxena. After the fall of Troy she was given to Odysseus as a captive, but died while crossing the Hellespont (Dardanelles).
