Turkic (Kazakh Кенесары) name composed of кене [kene] - "mite; tiny, small" + Sary - "yellow".
Kenesary Kasimov (1802-1847) the last khan of the Kazakh Khanate, genus of the Genghisides, grandson of Abylay Khan. In Kazakhstan he is revered as the leader of the national liberation movement of Kazakhs for independence from the Russian Empire.
