There are multiple origins and translations for the name Marwa:
1. Arabic name (مروة) [Marwah] comes from (مَرْو) means - "quartz; careful; flint-stone, Egyptian marjoram".
Safa and Marwa - the name of the hills in Mecca around which one of the rites is performed. Muslims walk between the two hills, which they believe was made a ritual as a tribute to Hajar's search for water in the area when she ran out of provisions after Ibrahim left her in the valley upon Allah's command.
2. Hebrew (מַרווָה) means - "sage, salvia".
