There are multiple origins and translations for the name Asiya:
1. Arabic extra popular name (عاصي) which actually means - "disobedient; rebellious".
Asiya - the name of Pharoah's wife. She found Prophet Musa as a baby and convinced Pharoah not to murder him. She then rejected her husband's claim of divinity and was a Muslim as she chose monotheism. Some Muslim girls are called Asiya.
Islam says that the prophet mentioned Asiya/Asiyah among the others four greatest women in the history of Islam, along with Maryam (the mother of the Prophet Isa), his daughter Fatima and the first and most beloved Muhammad`s wive Khadija.
2. Derivative form of the name Aza or of Asia
3. Diminutive form of the name Ann/Hannah - "delectation, enjoyment; boon".
