The name comes from the Latin word (Cordis) means - "heart"
St Cordula, died a martyr sometime around 304, was one of the 11,000 virginal companions of St Ursula. When the group was attacked by the Huns, Cordula sought refuge in a boat. However, upon seeing how bravely her companions accepted their martyrdom, she turned herself over to the Huns and was brutally executed. She is generally depicted with a boat, arrow, lance, and wreath or crown.
