Hebrew (למך) means - "lummox; good for nothing".
In the Old Testament Lamech is a person in the genealogies of Adam in the Book of Genesis. He is the sixth generation descendant of Cain (Genesis 4:18); his father was named Methusael, and he was responsible for the "Song of the Sword". He is also noted as the first polygamist mentioned in the Bible, taking two wives, Ada and Tselah (Zillah). He is not to be confused with the Lamech in Genesis 5.
