Hebrew (גַד) which actually means - "fortune, luck, success, happiness, good fortune".
Gad - the character of the Old Testament, one of the Biblical prophets. Gad was a friend of king David in the Bible called "the prophet and seer of David". According to the First Book of Chronicles, Gad, along with the prophets Samuel and Nathan. He recorded the affairs of king David and he is considered one of the possible authors of the First and Second Kings.
Gad in the Torah - the founder of one of the 12 of Israel tribes, the son of Jacob - "patriarch of the Jewish people (Israel); trace; step, footstep".
