2. Derivative form of the Persian name Miran semantics - "princes, ruler".
St Myron.
St. Myron the Wonderworker, Bishop of Crete, was a humble farmer. He and his wife shared joyfully and generously with the poor. Once, he caught some thieves stealing corn from his threshing floor. Rather than act as the owner and chase them off or have them arrested, he joined their band long enough to help them fill their sacks, lift them onto their backs and help them get away. Because of his honest, humble and industrious reputation, he was ordained priest, then consecrated bishop. Many miracles happened by his prayers. He was a wise Bishop and a peacemaker. He reposed in the Lord at the great age of 100 in the year 350
